The new history of the Det norske oljeselskap ASA started with the establishment of the oil company Pertra in Trondheim in 2001. The businesses that today are part of Det norske started, however long before that.

Det norske is the second largest on the Norwegian continental shelf in terms of number operator, exploration and drilling operations.
Det norske has been active in exploration in recent years. In 2011 it gave results, through a tripling of our resources. We participated in the giant discovery at Sverdrup, and at Norvarg in the Barents Sea.
