Det norske would like to contribute to the society around us in a positive way.  We do this as a sponsor, contributor, collaborator, or as user.  We support measures that are directly related to our business as oil company, measures that provide significant exposure, and measures that can be for the benefit of our employees.

Builds school with Kaizers in Rwanda
In collaboration with UNICEF and the Schools for Africa campaign, Kaizers Orchestra set a goal to raise one million NOK to build a school in Rwanda.
Det norske has had the pleasure to support the project with 700,000 NOK, and with this contributing to goal achievement. Read more about the campaign here. 

Det norske finance professor of geophysics at NTNU
Det norske and NTNU signed in November 2007 an agreement on the financing of an adjunct professor position in applied geophysics for a period of five years at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim.  This was the first time one of the smaller and new players on the Norwegian shelf funded such a position. The need for highly qualified workers will increase as a result of the challenges in the Norwegian oil industry.  Det norske justify involvement with the companys need to make a contribution to NTNU's willingness to adapt to a reality on the Norwegian shelf where a larger part of the exploration business is run by smaller companies.

Det norske and the University of Stavanger in the summer of 2008 entered into an agreement for financing of an adjunct professor position for Arild Saasen in a period of three years at the University of Stavanger. The need for highly qualified workers will increase as a result of challenges in the Norwegian oil industry. Det norske justifies involvement in need of support educating petroleum engineers in Norway.

Students
Det norske also supports school pupils and students in subjects such as geology and other subjects related to the oil industry.  This may be various projects, study tours, or similar.  In such cases we always have a report from the projects.  We believe this is an important part of recruitment to Det norske.  Det norskes support includes NTNU geoscience and petroleum technocrats catalog main excursion and Junior Entrepreneurship county fair

The emphasis in the north
Det norske has a comprehensive program to support research, education and economic development in northern Norway.  Total for the program is about 15 million.

Det norske support the Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Tromsø.  The grant has a budget of 8.7 million, and will be used for an advanced XRF scanner.
The agreement includes the purchase and use of advanced scientific equipment, a so-called XRF-scanner to the Department of Geology.  To ensure that one has competent personnel to operate the equipment the company pays a researcher at the Institute of Geology.

Based in our office in Harstad several agreements  has been signed with industry, with research and education.  The goal is to prepare the ground for increased business.  In cooperation with Verftsringen Nord-Norge, agreements on apprenticeship places in the three northernmost counties are signed.  Det norske will pay 75 percent of the cost of the apprenticeship. Det norske will through a three-year contract for three million  give the industry an offer of project quality management.  Det norske has initiated several research and development projects which include the University of Tromsø and schools in northern Norway.  Det norske wants to fund a research fellowship for three years, linked to Nordområdesenteret.  Over a period of five years, the company will support graduate students working on issues around the qualification of the northern Norwegian industry for delivery of goods and services to the international market for oil and gas.

Det norske will provide both funding and expertise to strengthen the line of well and drilling of Stangnes College in Harstad.  The company is actively working toward more educational institutions to provide expertise, including working with Det norske.

Det norske is actively seeking to enter into several agreements with both the industry and with educational and research institutions to strengthen the region's position in front of increased petroleum activity in the north.

Det Norske Teatret
Det norske has signed a comprehensive cooperation with Det Norske Teateret.  The agreement is for three years and has a frame of two million.  Det norske will be using the theater offensive to both employees and external events.  Read more about the theater in www.detnorsketeater.no


Det Norske Teateret  is not primarily chosen from the name, but because the theater combines high quality with a popular profile for many.

Kosmorama
Det norske is the main sponsor for Trondheim International Film Festival, Kosmorama.  Read more about the agreement here, and about the festival on www.kosmorama.no.


Jazz Fest Trondheim
11.-15.  May this year set Trondheim in a very special atmosphere - also for the benefit of our employees, customers and contacts.  Det norske also supports the jazz festival, Maijazz in Stavanger in May.
