 Det norske would like to contribute to the society around us in a positive way.  We do this as a sponsor, contributor, collaborator, or as user.  We support measures that are directly related to our business as oil company, measures that provide significant exposure, and measures that can be for the benefit of our employees.  

 

  • Builds school in Rwanda with Kaizers
    In collaboration with UNICEF and the Schools for Africa campaign, Kaizers Orchestra set a goal of collecting one million NOK to build a school in Rwanda. Det norske has had the pleasure to support the project with 700,000 NOK, and with this helping Kaizers to reach their goal.

  • Professorship in Geophysics at NTNU 
    In November 2007 Det norske and NTNU signed an agreement for financing an adjunct professorship in geophysics for a period of five years in Trondheim. This was the first time one of the smaller and new players on the Norwegian continental shelf funded such a position. The need for highly qualified workers will increase as a result of more and new and challenges in the Norwegian oil industry.

 

  • Professor II position in drilling and fluid engineering at the University of Stavanger
    Det norske and the University of Stavanger signed the summer of 2008 an agreement for financing an adjunct professor position for Arild Saasen for a period of three years at the University of Stavanger. 

 

  • Students
    Det norske supports students in disciplines such as geology and others related to the oil industry. We believe this is an important part of the recruitment for Det norske.

  • Academia Borealis
    Det norske supports Academia Borealis, Northern Norway`s science academy.
    The funds have resulted in varied activities, such as the discussion about oil production in the north. Academia Borealis was founded 10 years ago. Read more about the academy here: http://www.ub.uit.no/nnva/

  

  • Special efforts in the North 
  • Det norske has a comprehensive program to support research, education and economic development in northern Norway. Overall, this is a program of around 15 million NOK. Det norske supports the Mathematics and Natural Science faculty at the University of Tromsø. The grant has a limit of 8.7 million and will be used for an advanced XRF scanner. In order to ensure that it has qualified personnel to operate the equipment Det norske pays a researcher at the Institute of Geology.

    With our office in Harstad as a base, Det norske has entered into several agreements with industry, with special attention on research and education. In cooperation with the yard circle in north Norway, we e.g. have entered into agreements where Det norske will pay 75 percent of the cost of the apprentice period for students. Det norske has initiated several research and development projects which include the University of Tromsø and other schools in northern Norway.

    Det norske will help with both funding and expertise to strengthen the faculty for drilling and well at Stangnes College in Harstad. The company is actively working with several educational institutions to provide our expertise. Det norske wants to be in front to strengthen the region's position in front of increased petroleum activity in the north.

  • Jazz Fest
    Trondheim is in a very special atmosphere when the yearly jazz fest is arranged. This year the festival is arranged 11-14 May. 
    Maijazz in Stavanger is arranged 10-15 May 2011. Det norskes sponsors these festivals for the benefit of our employees, customers and contacts. Read more about the parties on www.jazzfest.no and on www.maijazz.no

Det norske has supported three geology students in their attempt to cross Norway lengthwise, from Lindesnes to Nordkapp and April 21th their 102 day long journey reached Nordkapp. Se also their own blogg: http://detnorskepalangs.blogspot.com/
