Solid position in northern Norway

In a recent report published by the University of Nordland, Det norske is highly recognized for its local presence, visibility and social involvement in the North.

 - The need for increased competence, less skepticism of the oil industry and greater appetite for oil-related assignments constitute some of the major findings of the report, states associate professor Jan-Oddvar Sørnes
at UIN.

He emphasizes broad cooperation with schools and authorities, as well as with the supplier industry, as some of the success criteria contributing to the good results of the work supported by Det norske. – I have received the impression that people have now realized that more jobs and assignments being awarded to the region are concrete evidence of positive spin-off effects, and that they in consequence have gained a more positive view of the industry than previously, says Sørnes, who has co-authored the report with Jan Terje Henriksen at UiN.

Solid recognition

The report was presented to the Industrial Policy Director of Det norske, Rolf Jarle Brøske, during a press conference in Bodø last Monday. – These are interesting findings, which we will follow up and evaluate. However, I interpret the report primarily as a substantial recognition of the efforts invested by Det norske, and particularly by the office in Harstad, he says.
