Det norske has, through several years, actively cooperated with research- and educational institutions in northern Norway. Through various measures, we wish to contribute to socioeconomic gains, and to develop competence in the three northernmost counties. By getting involved in education and industry, we will prepare the region for the boost in activity in the Barents Sea, and in Lofoten/ Vesterålen.

Our efforts are not passing unnoticed. Wednesday, November 2nd, Det norske was given the honorary award for innovative company at the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Tromsø.

Det norske spends 5 million NOK per year on Achilles- and ISO-certification of the mechanical industry in northern Norway, for instance through supporting Verftsringen Nord-Norge. A part of our program involves apprentice support, and free assistance in developing quality systems.

Bjarne Kristoffersen, Chief Engineer field development in Harstad, is glad to see that our efforts are being noticed, and appreciated.
 -       This award bear witness that the social commitment that we have shown in northern Norway is being noticed. It also gives us credibility in terms of what we say of our long-term presence in the region. We wish to display social responsibility, and contribute in raising competence and industrial development in those areas we operate. We have chosen a strategy which implies a direct and specific cooperation with relevant R&D, educational institutions, and the industry. It is nice to see that it is being appreciated.

We, Det norske, give ourselves a pat on the shoulder, anticipating further cooperation and mutual learning.
