Songa Delta is about to conclude the drilling of exploration well 25/6-4 S on the Kalvklumpen prospect in production license 414. Det norske oljeselskap ASA operates the license, holding a 40 percent interest.

The well is located in the central part of the North Sea, approximately 20 kilometers southeast of the Frøy field, 37 kilometers northeast of the Heimdal field.

The primary objective of exploration well 25/6-4 S was to prove hydrocarbons in the Paleocene (Hermod Formation) and Jura (Brent Group). The well did strike good quality reservoir rocks, as was expected. However, the formation was water-bearing.

25/6-4 S was drilled to a vertical depth of 2738 meters beneath sea level, reaching its final destination in the Dunlingroup.

The water depth is 114 meters. Well 25/6-4 S will now be permanently plugged and abandoned.

Licensees in PL414 are; Det norske oljeselskap (operator, 40 percent), Noreco (20 percent), Faroe Petroleum Norge (20 percent) and Bayerngas Norge (20 percent).
