Aker BP is reaching an important milestone as operator when the Ivar Aasen-field in the North Sea approaches the production phase.
On 21 May 2013, the Plan for Development and Operation (PDO) was approved by the Norwegian parliament. Three years later, in accordance to the schedule, the platform is present in the North Sea, and first oil from Ivar Aasen is expected late in 2016.
In december 2012 Statoil, as operator for the Gina Krog field development, submitted the PDO to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. The Gina Krog resources extend into PL 029B, where Aker BP is a partner. Aker BP has a 3.3 percent share in Gina Krog. First oil from Gina Krog is scheduled for first quarter 2017.
Johan Sverdrup is a major discovery, and ranks among the five largest oil fields on the Norwegian continental shelf. The development of the field will be one of the key industrial projects in Norway over the next 50 years.
